Are You Dating a Bad Boy?

Take this ten-question test from Wendy L. Walsh, author of The Boyfriend Test and The Girlfriend Test. How many of the following do you answer "Yes" to?

1. Does He Call At Inappropriate Hours? Appropriate hours for early-stage-dating calls are between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Any other time is a booty call!

2. Does He Forget to Give Good Phone? Conversation is the way to a woman's heart. Bad boys want to cut to the chase and set up face-to-face meetings, with little verbal enticement.

3. Are there holes in his story? He gives only the facts, no fillers. He dances around some of your personal questions. This guy is hiding something! (A wife or girlfriend, perhaps? A prison stint?)

4. Is his relationship resumé void of monogamy? If he's over twenty-five and hasn't had at least one two-year committed relationship, he's on the road to becoming a career serial sex hound.

5. Does he forget to follow up on the "little promises" he's made? Whether it's an offer to fix your car stereo, make a business referral call on your behalf, or take you on a weekend getaway, Bad-Boys make promises they often don't keep. They hope the promise alone will get them sex.

6. Does he call you Baby, Hon or Sweetie before you've been together even a month? It is MUCH too early for terms of endearment! He's trying to make it seem as if you're closer than you really are, feigning intimacy. He wants you to mistake his loving name for you for love itself, which it isn't.

7. Is his relationship with his mother too close or hostile? If he hates her, he'll be looking to hate you soon enough. If he's too close to her, rest assured that, unconsciously, he already has a wife and you'll only ever be his mistress.

8. Does he excel at the game of phone tag after you've slept with him? He knows where and when to call you, yet you always seem to end up being "it." Or, he switches from telephone contact to email contact. Beware: he's adding a degree of separation.

9. Does he hide his friends, family, and acquaintances? Bad-Boys like to keep their personal lives clean in the event of a quick exit. He doesn't want you using his mechanic, befriending his coworker, or talking to his sister after he's hit and run. Other Bad-Boy friends are a different story. He loves to show you off to them.

10. SEX! Is it quick and missing afterplay? If he's not a Bad-Boy, expect him to get the warm towel to clean up, cuddle you for as long as you need, and sleep on the wet spot! If he's a Bad-Boy, he'll always have a good excuse for why he can't spend the night.

1-2 He's probably a nice guy whose made a couple mistakes.
3-4 He's a run-of-the-mill commitment phobic.
5-10 He's a full-fledged Bad-Boy who must be stopped from reproducing!
